Is everyone forgetting that, before Spock did the Kirk mind-meld at the end, Kirk essentially expressed his final wishes, regarding his feelings for Rayna, that being, "If only I could forget".

The flat screen monitor in the episode looks like today’s 60 years later.

Star Trek did a fine job predicting flat screen monitors.

Yes, there are many good episodes in the third season. This is one of my favorites.

Right before he falls asleep Kirk says “I just wish I could forget”. I took that as consent for what Spock did

Oh, we all know what Kirk's "Prime Directive" is!

Bones quote "mathematically perfect brain waves" to Spock is throwback to Season 1 " The Squire of Gothos". He gave him the same compliment on the bridge. Nice reaction!

Not only do you need a cape but also a swashbuckler hat with a feather.

Completely do not buy into Kirk falling for her, but really touched by Spock helping his friend to forget. Maybe Spock is violating his Captain at that moment, but it's a powerful example of the genuine friendship he feels for him. You might disagree if it was appropriate, but I think it's the only part of this episode that I actually like.
