My mom always said, “If you walked into the middle of open heart surgery it would look like murder. Trust the process.”

Authors consider this as building a backlist. They write the first book. A family member buys a copy. They write their second book. A family member and a friend buy a copy. It takes a lot of work to write books and not see anything out of them. But the author keeps going, and they write books 3, 4, and 5. Eventually sales start to pickup. And by the time they’ve written their sixth book and published it, people are now going back and buying books 1-5. The author is finally making money on their backlist. But it takes patience and work.

Hi, Cas! I just discovered you a week ago through my daughter-in-law. I’ve committed to spending at least five minutes a day to get rid of at least 20 things. This is, as you say, amaze-balls! At this point I’m gauging my success on how many bags and boxes are going out as opposed to how it all looks here. I’m also taking some progress pictures of the worst areas. Thanks so much! I’m waiting and hoping the TBYH will be on sale again so I can sign up.

Thank you Cass for validation. Lady bug here and I am right in the middle of packing a house we have lived in for 30 years. I have had at least 3 real panic attacks and I had not had one in years. My anxiety is off the chart. I keep saying I cannot believe how much stuff is coming out of my spaces. I have over the year really worked on decluttering and still MORE is there, everywhere, all over the house. I do believe I am at the top of the bell curve of mess and it will get better. Lots being donated!!!! I cleaned off my bathroom sink countertop so I have at least one spot that was clear.

I'm about a week into seriously de-cluttering for probably the first time in my life, and have been playing these podcasts in the background, among other things to keep me motivated and trucking along. And they are so helpful!

So far I've managed to get out six black rubbish bags, (which in my country are called "big black sacks"😂), absolutely full of trash I didn't even really realise was just taking up so much added space here and there. And now that I'm through that first layer in my first de-cluttering room, I have even started in on my first bag of actually GOOD things that I'm throwing away completely guilt free, for the simple fact that they just don't fit in my space. And it is SO liberating! The difference is already night and day. It's like my soul itself feels lighter.

I can't thank you enough for what you do here, Cas. You're an absolute legend! 😎👍

My epiphany today was in regards to bags and bags of stuff being removed from my storage area, but things are still cluttered. I have lots of bins, boxes and bags and often get decision fatigue, so I move to another one to keep motivated. This sometimes means little to no change to the overall look of the area because the bins are still physically there...it doesn't LOOK like progress has been made. What I realized today is how compact and stuffed the original bins/boxes/bags must have been in the first place! I'm now giving myself some grace as I slowly move through each container, making those decisions, knowing that progress IS being made as each container gets lighter and lighter. Maybe that's how I need to designate progress: by the pound.

Looking at the water NOT boiling, saying “Bro, you’ve been boiling forever and you’re not even there!” 🤣 Exactly picture of my house NOT getting organized! Love it Cas!

What the Clutterbug framework taught me is that embracing my inner Ladybug makes life so much easier and less cluttered! I really do not need to build a little cabinet to organize my chapsticks with extra slots in case I get a new chapstick that is different. I can put the 8 chapsticks in a decorative basket and happily look for one I want in the moment. Also what I learned is that I'm still a Cricket at heart and that is okay, because I still remember that feeling when all the writing/drawing things went into one bucket and I just cannot do that. But understanding my thresholds for rummaging and the types of categories my brain likes has made all the difference in the organizing phases.

I've been watching your videos for a couple of days now and FINALLY just threw away (donating) 2 black bags of stuff in my bedroom! I think I'm a Bee because I'm a big crafter living in a 1/1 that's all windows and doors with only 1 closet.
Watching the video where you help the woman via video is what really got me motivated. My home isn't anything near as bad as hers but I was seeing the road I'm on and it got me moving. I'm wanting to start RV living and have a LONG way to go.
