  I am from the Caribbean and what amazes me is that all things I grew with were made in England. From cars, bikes, cutlery, furniture, toys, medications, churches EVERYTHING was made in ENGLAND even my children.

  I left Aldershot over 40 years ago, Its no longer the home of the British army, the town centre has seen better days and is controlled by Farnborough as part of the joint council since 1974.The bus station next the railway station has been sold off, so you now have to walk around half a mile to catch a bus.

  I am currently up to Wigan and so far, it would appear that the North East of England and the industrial towns and inventions(- locomotive engines included) have never existed.

  I like many of the towns mentioned here! I too am old &amp; have been all over England.<br>I think we should consider towns of different sizes in separate categories. For instance, places like Jaywick, Essex, and Ashton, Cornwall, are too small to be really nasty, though both are thoroughly grim. At the other end of the scale, Hull &amp; Manchester &amp; Leeds have vast areas of urban desert, like most conurbations, but also small pleasant areas.<br>Therefore I believe we should concentrate upon towns of middle size, and I name the following, all of which will have their supporters.<br>Middlesbrough, Macclesfield, Stockport, Stoke-on-Trent, Smethwick, Corby, Braintree, Watford, Bedford, Carshalton, Reigate, Maidstone, Crawley, Aldershot.<br>Do you agree? Any other nominations?
