  I was born in Mansfield, my mother was from Mansfield.My Father worked for Stewarts &amp; LLoyds in Corby, my grand parents lived in the town until they died, &nbsp;In 1955 my parents moved me to Claygate in north Surry. <br><br>Why? <br>Because my parents foresore the future, decline of &quot;one industry towns&quot; and had a visceral belief that after WW2 old labour had no future.<br><br>So my Father became part of the oil industry, with BP. <br>Me? I became middle class, went to London University and spent my life in the chemical industry.<br><br>ALL my Cousins left Mansfield and became middle class professionals, <br><br>So those who could did what they could, to &quot;better&quot; themselves by leaving, because there was NO incentive to stay: Sad, really. The old towns and cities have had to wait for migrants to see opportunity and rebuild.

  I agree with the people calling this AI slop. Corby is not a no-go place. The people there are lovely. It has just like most small towns in England lost its high street.
