100% right. 80s kids were telling the horror of their parents. It wasn’t the peace love of the 60s. It was the anger and horror of the aftermath.

They were the first metal band to perform the Grammys by playing this song. They were nominated for an award (but lost.) But playing live for all to see & hear was bigger than any award. Legendary

The movie is “Johnny Got His Gun”…and trust me you don’t want to see it. It’s about a soldier who was hit by artillery and had his arms and legs blown off, his face essentially blown off and lost his sight, hearing and ability to speak. Doctors think he’s brain dead, when he isn’t. He’s trapped with no way to tell anyone that he’s still there.<br><br>The movie is 3 hours of pure misery. I rented it when this video premiered on MTV in 1989, I was 16 at the time. After it was over, it was like 4pm and I had no energy. I was so drained mentally that all I could do was roll over and sleep for a while. To do that to me at 16 when I was usually full of energy (and ADHD lol but it wasn’t known at the time, they just called kids like me “hyper kids”), anyway to do that to me at 16 is just crazy.
