In my opinion, " One " is the Greatest Heavy Metal song ever written.

I am obsessed with your philosophical mind and way of thinking, I could sit and talk with you for hours…I find it hard to have a deeply intellectual conversation with most people today!!!

the most interesting thing about the Music video to me happens to be the last 5 seconds. It shows a group of people singing a song of remembrance and yearning for the lost, Yet the guy who is home is in a dark room by himself. Still just "One".

This song builds from a pleasant opening through growing horror until when the man realizes hes stuck and locked in, it's full metal attack. One of the best songs ever written.

This is from Metallica's fourth album, yet it was their first music video released in 1988. It was so shocking and traumatic that after its initial premiere, MTV would only show it at night. It wasn't until the shock wore off that it went into heavy rotation.

Don't mind me, sir. I'm just going through your backlog admiring your evolution and algorithmically massaging shit.

 Heavy beautifully dark song.

They won a grammy for it. The movie is "Johnny Got His Gun" about a World War I soldier. Metallica ended up buying the rights to the movie.

While it's about the soldier being physically trapped in his body, I've known some recent veterans who connect with the song's message looking at it regarding PTSD.

Also, this song is credited for the first start-stop double kick breakdown.

The song is about the book “Jonny Got His Gun” and features footage from the movie of the same name
