Thank me later…
1. Japanese maple. ✅

2. Saucer magnolia. ✅
Lots of pink reddish flowers

3. Yoshino Cherry. ✅
2 weeks of beautiful white flowers

4. Flowering dogwood. ✅
A 4-season tree with beautiful colors year round. They don’t like hot direct sun.

5. Southern Magnolia. ✅
Reaches 60-80 feet. It’s an evergreen tree. Massive. Fragrant flowers.

6. Emerald green arborvitae. ✅
Looks similar to a cypress. Vibrant green. Deer eat it though.

7. Shoal creek lilac tree. ✅
Large multi stemmed tree. Slender blue flowers. Full sun.

8. Red maple. “October glory.” ✅
Beautiful fall colors. Reds and oranges. Needs a large lot. Huge tree.

9. Ginkgo biloba ✅
Leaves turn pure gold in fall, leaves all drop in about a day. Make sure to get the MALE tree. Overlooked small tree, witch hazel. Small, not messy, minimum maintenance and lights up when in bloom late Feb to early March.

For those in the northeast, look into the gotgeous native Eastern Redbud. Truly a wonderful tree.

I have 5 dogwoods underneath a property line stand of 80ft white pines. I absolutely love them. Their architecture is so compelling, almost like natural bonsai trees. Love them.

Like some of the other folks leaving comments, I planted a Ginkgo 24 years ago on the side of my house. I few years later I did a transplant to the back yard. It survived and thrived And it's Fall display is stunning every year now.

Native plant lover here. The native pollinators and birds need food from native trees. I wish you would highlight trees and shrubs that are native to various zones and will often work in a residential landscape.

Swamp White Oak is one of my very favorites. Look for them in the wild, they are spectacular.

I enjoyed learning about that Swamp Oak option for low lying wet and flooding areas on a property. While I did not choose that tree for that area on my property, I did plant a Bald Cypress 23 years ago. That tree proved to be amazing and thrived and has grown as tall as some of the native tulip poplars and oaks in my backyard.

I grew up in a house with a southern magnolia in the front yard. Do not underestimate dealing with the leaf litter. I also remember it as having nothing growing underneath it, but that could have been due to a combination of no arborist care and very little leaf litter management. On the other hand, it was a great climbing tree.

Nicely done. I live in zone 5 New England with several acres of woods and field. I planted a Dawn Redwood several years ago and it’s amazing.but needs lots of room to grow. I also planted three bald cypress and an Alaskan cedar. I love my trees….lol. Yes, I have a Emperor Red Maple and Dogwoods. ..

I planted a redbud (in Virginia). Loved it. As for weeping willow, I remember that a hurricane comp;etely up rooted our weeping willow.

Tricolour Beech tree is my favourite. Highly prized, ornamental deciduous tree celebrated for its stunning, multicolored foliage of green, and pink-burgundy. The bark is smooth and nice to the touch. Fall foliage turns a brilliant copper-bronze.
