I am on my 5th 'Roo. I have yet to have a Subie go less than 300,000 miles. I change the oil every 4,000 miles religiously.

Porsche gets a good rep because the owners are typically responsible and get the services done without hesitation. The same cannot be said for all Subaru owners

In my decades of experience as an auto tech and a vehicle owner in general, I've learned the most important factor for longevity and reliability, regardless of make or model, is how the vehicle is used and maintained.

Subaru here in Norway is considered very reliable and robust, especially the Ej20 in the Forester, many hit 400 000 km.

I’ve had 5 consecutive Subarus as company vehicles each doing over 180,000kms from new. Always serviced on time and I have never had a failure.

I check my oil every other fill up and change it every 3500 to 4000 miles in my 2011 STI. I put in aluminum radiator. Also refreshed my pcv valve assembly and hoses when I bought my car. It has been reliable for the almost three years I have owned it. It has almost 143,000 miles.

I completely agree with you. I've been servicing my Outback for 5 years now, as you said. Everything's ok. Greetings from the Czech Republic. Merry Christmas.

I've put 250,000-300,000 miles on 3 different Subarus doing exactly what you talk about in this vid.... you're 100% on point. Maintenance is king...people who don't want to follow this advice should do their selves a favor and buy something else. They should also keep in mind that all the other manufacturers of newer models require the same due diligence....trust me....the Honda & Toyota I had blew head gaskets at 130,000 & 150,000...HRV had wheel bearing failure & fuel injectors fail as well. All things considered, I'll be driving Subarus and taking care of them as stated by your vids....they are great vehicles. I'm on my 4th one now

I bought a new 1987 Subaru Legacy with the non-turbo 1.8 liter. Thank goodness it was a non-interference engine (you can see where I'm going) and 2 timing belts that I took excellent care of. It started self-destructing within 60k miles with broken timing belts, blown head gaskets, pulley brackets breaking off, interior plastic parts falling off and very poor horsepower requiring me to turn off the AC to climb a hill.

After decades of buying Honda vehicles, I thought I would give Subaru another chance and bought a 2008 Forester non-turbo. It has been wonderful and so far, has over 217k miles on it. It is just the opposite of my earlier one that constantly failed me. I love this car!
