  Gay ex-Mormon here, getting out of that church was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do in my life. It was so shocking how many of these people I had always seen as nice and loving turned hostile and hateful and their behavior totally changed toward me. They did things they swore they'd never do and then found ways to justify the behavior.

  If they actually believed it, they wouldn&apos;t feel threatened.<br>They want to &quot;save&quot; you from the shame they feel in their own life.   They are really bad at defending their faith because for centuries they didn&apos;t have to. Heresy is not a crime anymore.

  As a recovering Catholic myself, I appreciate your channel. My when I was in college, I took a world religion and separate ethics class taught by a Protestant minister. He was once accused of shaking people&apos;s faith and making students question things. He would reply, if questions shake your faith then your faith was never strong to begin with.

  It threatens their belief that the words are magic and when you&apos;re not converted immediately upon hearing them, it threatens the magicnin those words.

  Taking a child to church where they&apos;re told they&apos;re going to Hell unless they believe a certain thing and behave and act a certain way is child abuse. &nbsp;It&apos;s basically mental torture that could give a kid nightmares.

  At the end of the day, they know their belief system doesn&apos;t work as advertised. That makes them feel threatened and insecure, so they lash out like children.
