The thing that is crazy, is if John Dehlin hadn’t been excommunicated he would totally just be a progressive Mormon, because he loves the community aspect of the church.

RE: Holland’s answer to John shows how gutless the brethren are. They are bought and paid for. Makes me sick. They value the organization over integrity and the wellbeing and individual needs of its members. They will throw anyone under the bus before doing the right thing if it means undermining the organization in the slightest. I complained to a stake president about that fact once and his immediate response was they absolutely will protect the organization over all else.

Regarding “prophetic infallibility” why does Jim think members believe prophets can’t teach false doctrine? Oh. Because that’s what we were all taught. They excommunicate people for disagreeing with doctrines that the church now disavows. If polygamy was wrong, racism was wrong, why should we trust leaders to be right about anything?

This is for Jim!

Thank you for continuing to SHOW UP in these often difficult conversations. I dont always agree with your points, but if the top 15 were more like you I'd reconsider attending. Thank you for your voice.
Always thoughtful. Always respectful.

Although, I have beef with the leaders just happily sitting back on their 💰 while guys like Jim fight their battles in the trenches.

The mere fact that Elder Holland believed John needed his permission says he thinks members can’t act without permission.

Of course Holland’s real goal was plausible deniability!

This is so good. The respect and maturity shown between you all is just refreshing. Thank you all for being men of integrity and having the ability to see both sides and have respect for one another’s beliefs.
Excellent podcast.

I can see the positive aspect of having something out there that encourages the faithful to treat those that step away from the church with a little bit of dignity and respect.

I hope Jacob Hansen watched this so he can learn how to have respectful conversation with someone you disagree with. He’s the most annoying person in the world to listen to. Thanks for this video. Great insights!

Leaders at the top are too worried about the $$$ they get, their opinions are buried deep because of it
