  I instantly started to cry when you recounted that call to the survivor&apos;s help line and remembered that the other side went quiet for a while, then said &quot;I am so sorry&quot; and that they wanted to pay for your therapy. When I pondered why that made me cry, I realized that this is the most natural reaction ever (simply compassion and empathy and wanting to help people), and it is also extremely rare. <br><br>We have to change this system as a whole. Victims need compassion. They need places they can go to and get help. They need to be heard. They do not need to work long hours at restaurants in order to pay for therapy sessions for something that was done to them, and that they have zero responsibility for. The whole system is so extremly wrong.

  I think group therapy is a must for whichever problem you have suffered. I know sitting with other abused women helped me, experiences may slightly vary however there’s a freedom to talk and the others understanding without you having to explain. It helps as you learn you’re not alone. Thank you Steven.x

  Kept my daughters away from churches and youth groups as much as possible, the chances of abuse or grooming scare this mom

  Boggles the mind that the Catholic Church still incorporates children into their services. Isn’t that the first step you’d take if you really wanted to prevent it? Cut off access.

  It always amazes me how religions push how “pro life” they are, but they’re really pro forced birth, and not about pro quality of life. SA needs to be prevented and survivors need to be believed and supported.

  Is there an official way to disaffiliate from the Roman Catholic Church. I have tried to do it before, but they don’t make it easy. I personally think it’s torture to force me to stay an official member of a religion I absolutely despise to the core of my being! I repeatedly demanded to be out of it, but because of some stupid water based ceremony I’m “marked” for life? It’s disgusting!

  Please people realize it is not just the Catholic Church that has this problem Everyone of the men and women I know who were molested by clergy we done so in Protestant denominations. Of course, this also happened in the Catholic church. I will tell you a fact. We were members as a family at an Episcopal church in the 90&quot;s. They had very, very specific protocols that was part of their liability insurance and explained to the congregation. The rector&apos;s office had glass doors. No child could go to the restroom alone. etc. etc. etc &nbsp;Summer camp, no child could be alone with another &quot;adult&quot; that was anyone over 16. This was extensively explained to the congregation and we, as parents, felt safe. It was explained to a parent meeting the terrible abuse of Protestant and Catholic clergy against children that that was just not going to happen at our denomination and specific church. Later, after hearing about the abuse, I thought why did they not &nbsp;enforce these guidelines? The problem was there and safety measures were known.

  I worked in the early eighties with sex abuse and no idea of priest and clergy but not at all surprised. Long history with the work of Tom Doyle m /jason Berry, Richard Sipe. Not too many females except Barbara Blaine. Iti goes into deep history and sexism and racism and ableism.

  I agree PA wanted to shut it down FOR MANY REASONS..IT WAS ALL POLITICAL!!..THEY DON&apos;T CARE ABOUT ABUSE VICTIMS!
