All I know is the 351C I had ran like a "strip-ped 'arse' ape", got great highway mileage and never burned oil. I sold it with 90K miles in the '72 Torino Gran Sport body it came in from Haines City Motor Company, Haines City, Florida, Feb 1972. It wasn't until years later I learned from videos like this) what a bad engine it was, from guys who probably never owned one. And that was after I had a 351C 2V with a C6 in a 1974 Ranchero I used to pull my fairlry large boat - which (Ranchero) I bought with 62k on the clock and sold with 84k. I guess I was unaware of how bad they were............. I certainly must have been lucky. I actually was aware of the not-so-good oiling sequence, but I never revved it above (maybe) 4000, so that was not a problem for me. Anyway, easy to run an outside oil line from the oil pressure sender fitting to the rear gallery. I did not do it, but it was not a problem for high revving guys who needed to - a lot easier and cheaper than replacing cracked heads on a 350 SBC.<br>In this video I learned the 351C did not fail. It simply never got fully developed to the extent is should have.

I had one and ran it hard for 180 thousand miles. It was running 14.3 in 1/4 withalmost 100 thousand miles on it

This is complete nonsense! The 351 Cleveland motor was a strong and powerful motor! It destroyed everyone in the early days of Pro Stock!

My 351C transplanted from a Torino to an F100 around 1981. Being in my 20’s, street raced it, drove from the Midwest to the Oregon coast, pulled twin axil trailers full of sound equipment for an other 10 years. Parked 20 years. Fired it up a few years ago. Still pulls hard.

This is B.S. 351 Cleveland was a fantastic engine. I had one & it was still going strong without being touched @ 250,000 miles.

I had put a 1970 Close chamber head 351 in my 74 Ranchero. I LOVED THAT CAR!
