  Iv'e been here in Thailand 23 years, Now, people are hurting, businesses are closing, a small 8 baht increase in petrol has ruined some Thais who need to travel for work, this hot season has ruined rice crops in some rural parts, people are borrowing money just to live and there have been more cases of people stealing copper and parts of bridges to sell for scrap! The only time I remember it being this close was in 2008 minus the war and petrol increase. If you lost your job now and were not stable, you would be in the shit!

  Thailand have 2 problems, Thai Elites has artificially strengthen the Baht, resulting that it is not a low cost manufacturer country as it was a decade ago. Two, corruption is in all levells of society.

  As a Thai he&apos;s right and he didn&apos;t go into the corruption &amp; crime aspect yet. <br><br>The massive corruption will be the downfall of us all. And who&apos;s the blame for that? +60% of the Thais just kept electing the same set of politicians for the past 6 years simply because these political parties promised to give them upfront &apos;stimulus money&apos; about $92USD. This practice would&apos;ve been illegal 10 years ago but thanks to the corrupt election committee and justice system, it&apos;s the new norm for Thailand.<br><br>Thousand cases about politicians, police, and high-ranking officers got caught in illegal activities, but very few of them are arrested, let alone punished. <br>Business have to pay everyone from low-level clerks to high-ranking officials or risk being harassed. If you&apos;re in tech development, the officials will &apos;ask&apos; you to take their children / family members as apprentices who might as well just steal your business ideas and make one themselves 7 months later. <br><br>Heck, even Thais with innovative business ideas are moving out because of this. What kind of sane, honest investor from overseas would want to come to Thailand and risk burning their investment fortunes to such corrupt system?

  Hope everyone watches until the end of the presentation. I&apos;m happy that your analysis about the strength of a country is not based on finance only. This long game needs various competencies and adaptability over obstacles.

  What’s not mentioned here is that Thailand has become a heat center. The temperature is becoming almost unlivable adding to the discomfort of an annual burn season that no longer feels like just a season.

  I am from ASEAN and have been visiting Thailand since 1977, enough to pick up a little of the Thai language. I like your video because it mirrors my appreciation &amp; evaluation of Thailand. I have been both impressed and nervous about Thailand at the same time for some years, especially after the passing of the last King. Its soul has weakened even if has progressed and become smarter in some ways. Like this podcaster, I am unable to predict the trajectory of Thailand. I wish the Thais well though.
