The opening scene was supposed to be a flashback of Marlin and how his life was like before Nemo was born, but the executives thought that the audience would not sympathize with or like Marlin if the movie started with him being grumpy and mean, and the flashback wouldn’t be as effective, so they decided to edit it for that scene to be the introduction

fun fact! someone in the comments might’ve said this already but in the original screenplay, they didn’t show coral in the baby’s death upfront and test audiences didn’t really sympathize with Marlon as much bc of it. So they swapped it around and did the death scene first and that made people relate much more to Marlin and give him much more sympathy!

Timeless classic movie...Glenn McQueen was an animator who passed during the production of the movie so the animators did this for him...then they used his last name for Lightning McQueen in the Cars franchise...RIP
