  As a kid growing up in the 50s I don't recall seeing many Packards. As for Studebakers, mostly the 48-50 model with that middle 'eye'.  Most common were Fords and Chevys, Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles. I could ID just about any American car on wheels from the 50s and 60s, right down to the year. By the early 70s everything started looking like everything else!

  Always fun to watch these videos and learn more about these defunct brands. As a side note last week a friend and I went to South Bend to see the Studebaker museum, well worth it for anyone passing through the area.<br>I did see plenty of Packard badging and info there, but not the full backstory of merger details.

  Once saw a &apos;58 Packard wagon in a grocery store parking lot. It was so bizarre I fell in love with it . Nothing wrong with a company cutting corners to keep from going under. Lots of jobs at stake. Love to find that wagon again....

  That 57 Packard Wagon is the epitome of fun. Everything says Optimism and Fun....it was a great era for personal transport.

  Fragments of two Studebaker memories: My grandfather had a bullet nose Champion he drove for<br>years, until it succumbed to Pennsylvania winters. He kept it going as a hay hauler for his sheep farm.<br>The most exciting Studebaker ride I had, was between Salt Lake City and Elko, Nevada in a V-8<br>Studebaker pickup truck. That thing flew across U.S. 40, and the rumble of that V-8 was<br>memorable.

  Thank you! When the &apos;57 &quot;Packardbakers&quot; were introduced in the Fall of 1956, some Packard dealers dropped their franchises in revulsion.<br>I&apos;ve always found them attractive. There aren&apos;t many left, and they&apos;re finally getting some love in the collector car market.<br>They need to be appreciated for what they are, refined Studebakers.

  I would dearly love to see how the US automotive landscape would look like now if all the independents would have combined like they were supposed to, if the CEO’s of the time could have gotten along. &nbsp;They could have made it work if they tried harder
