  Game was so bad I didn&apos;t even make it halfway through. Then I played the original FF7 and was reminded why it is so much better than the remix series.

  It’s not even the story changes I hated so much, cuz I just skipped most of it. I’m not sitting through 30 cutscenes every second. The original did the story pacing way better. What I hated the most was the forced walking sections, the incessant hand holding, the lame ass cookie cutter side quests, and yes that you only had to take 4 steps with no gameplay to get interrupted by yet another cutscene. There were so many moments in the original that you just naturally came to by interacting with the environment. But this game had to force you to experience it the way it said, like watching a movie with some gameplay every so often. Honestly all the worst tropes of AAA gaming tossed in one game. I’ll stick with the original. It’s still a masterpiece to this day! And this is coming from someone who’s only played the original for the first time all the way through this year. Played remake right after it so it was all fresh in my mind.

  If all the characters we swapped out and a few names changed, the remakes would be 99% like every other AAA title in the last 5 years.

  I honestly don&apos;t mind the changes too much but the storytelling is awful. It now feels convoluted with cameras swinging about everywhere with deafening music &nbsp;just missing those poignant moments which made the OG so memorable. How does the OG feel more cinematic than a remake almost 30 years later?!

  Is it bad as a remake? Yes.<br><br>Is it bad as a game? Probably, Square tends to really drop the ball there with most of the best Final Fantasies being the ones they made under the &quot;oppression&quot; of Nintendo&apos;s S&amp;P/localization restrictions/&quot;poor tech specs&quot;<br><br>But at least the original seven for all my many qualms with it was in fact an RPG and did have a story.

  I wouldn’t say no one was excited (mind you I don’t have your feed), but there have been those of us who have become more vocal of our distaste of the “remakes.”

  When it tries to be FF7 its peak but when it tries to be something else it loses me completely. Love the combat, music, the iconic areas, the way they mostly handle the characters carried by the voice acting but the plot leaves me with something I can&apos;t say I enjoy. Open world expanding in part 2 is such a slam dunk thematic wise but more doesn&apos;t necessarily mean better. &nbsp;I&apos;m really hoping they stick the landing in part 3 but if they don&apos;t meh. So many other good games to play. As an og fan playing these chronologically its a 7/10.
