  I&apos;ve installed Mr. Cool for my whole house heating and cooling and it&apos;s worked great so far. 6 years so far.

  I purchased a non-DIY Mr Cool. &nbsp;And my total cost was about $1000. &nbsp; I have the flare tool and have proper length copper tubing. &nbsp;I also put the outdoor unit on the side of my house where it should be. &nbsp;The professional that came out quoted me $6k + cost to run electrical, wanted to drill a big hole in the front of my brick house, and set the outdoor unit right beside my front door, which is also right outside a bedroom window. &nbsp;I ran the tubing, cut and flared the ends, only cut hole in my soffit, have a nice lineset cover, pressure tested with nitrogen, vacuum tested below 200 microns, and everything has been fine for the last 3-4 years.<br><br>An issue I have around here is that most of the pros are not very good. &nbsp;I had one or the best companies around here install a new Amana system and caught them brazing the lines without flowing nitrogen. That sort of thing is very common around here. So while I&apos;m not a pro, I take my time and do it right. &nbsp;The pros cut corners and do what is easy and say &quot;oh it will be fine&quot;. &nbsp;I&apos;m not saying it is like that everywhere, but in the south that is the way it is...and not just in the HVAC industry.

  Being 100% off grid in Thailand, I chose the most energy efficient 9000 btu model available at the time, which happened to be a Diakin linear compressor R32 unit. At $ 800, installed, it certainly was not the cheapest option, but it has been trouble-free for 10 years.<br><br> A friend has a Samsung, which failed after 4 years of use due to a capacitor on the control board, which was easily replaced for less than $1 delivered. He was quoted $ 200 to have the circuit board replaced by a Samsung service technician, which was half the entire system installed.

  I put my Zone Air DIY mini split system in last fall, and I love it so far. Even easier to install than my MrCool!

  I cannot say enough good things about the MRCOOL. &nbsp;Price, ease of install, one year later. I installed it myself, just hiring my grandson electrician to help. All said and done under 3K. The Pros wanted 12K.

  But I can buy 3 Mr Cool units for the price of one similar sized Mitsubishi with you installing the Mitsubishi and still have money left over.

  One understands from a professional&apos;s point of view and the info here is appreciated. &nbsp;But I put a pioneer in 10 years ago and it&apos;s worked like a charm for 10 years. &nbsp;Local professional had quoted +$5k for a mitsu back in 2016; the pioneer cost me $1500 (total). &nbsp;Not hawking pioneer here, but costs.

  I&apos;ve installed two diy Mr cool.<br> One in my NY home and one in my Fl home. One is 8 years old and the other 7 years. Only one problem so far. The one in Florida got flooded and I had to replace the fan. Boards were up on top and survived. Everyone around me lost there HVAC. Been great for me.

  Don&apos;t trust the HVAC specialists when they are ranking DIY devices. They are incentivized to promote no DIY stuff and it&apos;s a fact.

  Here the HVAC techs want to do replacements, not repairs. Techs told me my units all need to be replaced, with out checking them out. I took a chance and bought r22 recharge 2lbs, $200.00. I have heat again all winter so far. Schrader valve was leaking, put a plug on checked for leaks good to go. 200 vs 11,000.

  We installed an LG Red mini split in 2021. We have two compressors and 6-cassette/wall mount on an 2-story cape and &nbsp;insulated basement. Prior to that a wood stove in the basement was our only heat source and no AC in summer. We have been very happy with the system.
