  I worked for Frank Brownells, then the Grandson Pete for almost a decade. Frank took very good care of his community around him. So many lives were saved from Brownells donations to First Responders, Ambulances, Law Enforcement agencies and the ER at the Grinnell Hospital. And countless schools. Frank took good care of all those around him. A great man as his Father Bob. Frank locally famous for his hilarious jokes and joy he brought. I remember Frank and Bob eating lunch at my Dad's Truck Stops, which I managed. "Frank and Bob are here my Father would say, which told me make sure the food came out hot and looking perfect as they were friends. These were personally great men of great character.

  I'm a stockholder, carried a .357 Blackhawk in SE Asia, and own several Rugers now (including a 10/22) - most dependable firearms I own. The 10/22 was my 2nd rifle - the 1st was a Mossberg Model B bolt-action .22 my great uncle gave to my father when he was 6 in the Minnesota woods; I got it when I was 6 in the Virginia countryside, taught my kids on it, and it will go to my grandson when he turns 6 (along with the 10/22).

  Bought my 10/22 at a hardware store in 1971 for about $200.00, STILL have it and it functions perfectly after 55 years and thousands of rounds. Love it !

  I didn't get a 10/22 from my dad. I got a Remington 552 Speedmaster. Another classic 22. I grew up shooting that rifle a lot. Many many rounds of ammo went through it. I had friends who had 10/22s. I thought it was a wonderful rifle...yes in the 1970's and early 80s. I valued my Remington because I also had a 870 shotgun and the Remington safety and handling was similar. As time went on and the modularlity of the 10/22 became more so easy I thought that it was a wonderful idea. I got a M77 as my first deer rifle and later a single six and other Ruger firearms. I still think the best two guns Ruger ever made were the 10/22 and the Ruger standard 22 pistol....which also now has a lot of options due to what Brownells did. Brownells is still one of the best places to get whatever you need for guns. Hats offs to them for making all the things they did and still do.

  My 10/22 was a Christmas gift from my infant son and wife from Tucson AZ K mart 1988. I remember not getting ammo with it, at a time when everything was closed around Christmas 😅

  This was great history , I enjoyed it as I grew up in the 50’s !!<br>I remember those hometown gun stores I purchased from back then ! <br>I remember my first Ruger 10/22 in 1976 pretty amazing semi auto , I loved it , never a jam !!

  Christmas 1961, I was 10YO. Under the tree was Ward&apos;s Westernfield semi-auto 22LR rifle and a brick of ammo. I had been shooting pigeons out of the cotton gin my grandfather managed with a Crossman 22 caliber pellet rifle for 3 years. Pigeons damaged equipment and lessened cotton quality, so I was &quot;quality control&quot;. On Saturday mornings I rode my bicycle 5 miles out to range land with a ground squirrel problem with that new Westernfield strapped across the handlebars. Nobody thought anything of a 10YO with a rifle.<br><br>This was pre 10/22. It wasn&apos;t until my grandkids came along that I retired the Western field and bought a 10/22. DIFFERENT WORLD.

  My first was a Winchester, model 69a at 12 yo. My first purchase was a Marlin 99c 16yo. My first Rugar 10-22 was a couple years after I got out of the service. Still have them. They all work and shoot as good as they did the day I got them. The first gun I ever shot was a Remington 511, at summer camp. I had to rent the gun, buy a box of bullets and the target. I did that near every day and I spent every penny that I had when I went to camp on that one thing. It was a basketball camp in theme, and I never did learn to play basketball. I learned to shoot.

  I used to walk to town and buy rifles and shotguns when I was 10 on til my high school days. <br>I would go to one of the three hardwares and pick out a gun and pay cash and no firearm check, just a little paper receipt, &nbsp;walk through &nbsp;town no one cared some older men would ask to look over my new gun and admire it and go home. No problem.

  My daughter&apos;s first gun was a Ruger 10/22, she was 10, now she&apos;s 31 years old and that rifle is still in my safe.

  Ive said for 30 years, the ruger 10/22 is the greatest firearm ever built!!!!!!<br><br>Find me another firearm as versatile, with the number of after market parts, chambered in a cartridge basicly impossible to ban.<br><br>Between my son and i, we have 5 10/22s, and i have no problem adding to the collection. &nbsp;<br><br>Don&apos;t call your self a &quot;gun guy&quot; if you dont own atleast 1 10/22
