Actually there were four units built of MÁV 242 series. Its speed limit was 120 km/h in both directions (which was rare at the time) and achieved a maximum speed of 167 km/h at its trials, which made it the fastest Hungarian built locomotive. MÁV 242.001 is the only one preserved of the series, it was a part of the nostalgic fleet of the Hungarian Railways up until around 2015 when its boiler rectification expired. Now it's a static locomotive in the so called Diesel hall of the once Northern Loco Repair Shop

You want to see steam engines that ran factories, Jonathan W has over 60 he's restored and runs for fun. Steam generator should power his holiday light displays again soon. Simple American that loves steam.
