  Universal also is responsible in saving Nosferatu. When they approached Stoker’s widow for permission on adapting Dracula, her clause was for them to hunt down the remaining prints in the US, however they secretly kept some of the reels for let’s just say “inspiration” for their version of Dracula.

  Since its original title cards did say &quot;Based on the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker,&quot; I think Nosferatu was less a case of a rip off and more a case of &quot;it&apos;s 1922 Germany and we&apos;re still figuring out copyright&quot;

  Henri Langlois is basically the guy who saved nosferatu. He is possibly the most important film archivist ever, the first one to do it I think.

  Dracula must be the least scary monster. Everything kills him. Crosses, wooden stakes, the sun, silver, garlic... It&apos;s amazing he&apos;s lived thousands of years!

  One of the weirder lost-but-found movies is &quot;Incubus&quot;, a 1966 William Shatner horror film written and directed by &quot;The Outer Limits&quot; creator Leslie Stevens, and shot entirely with dialogue in the constructed language Esperanto. The film was lost media until 1998 when a low-quality copy with French subtitles was found. It got an official VHS and DVD release shortly after with a pretty hilarious marketing campaign. It appears that a much better print was found in 2023 and recently got a 4K release. A lot of the crew suffered tragedies after the film&apos;s release, leading to rumours that the film, which deals with Satanic themes, was cursed.
