Spent a full day walking York and still didn’t see everything… so I went back and packed it all into this one.<br><br>What surprised you most about York’s history?<br><br>If you’ve been, what did I miss that should be in part 2?<br><br>And if you’re planning a visit, where are you heading first, the Minster, the Shambles, or somewhere a bit less obvious?<br><br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/york">#York</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/yorkengland">#YorkEngland</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/walkingtour">#WalkingTour</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/visityork">#VisitYork</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/ukhistory">#UKHistory</a> <a href="https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/britishhistory">#BritishHistory</a>

I am a resident of York and have watched a large number of this type of video, the majority probably made by American visitors, but this one, I have to say, is the best I have seen. Beautifully shot, well researched and beautifully narrated. You have a genuine talent for this sort of thing and I am truly grateful to you. Thank you so very much.

Love the way you clearly appreciate our history and wonderful buildings. As a Brit it is one of the things I adore about the UK as well as our wonderful national parks. My daughter lives in beautiful York while I am lucky enough to live in beautiful historic Durham.

Always loved my day trips to York. From being a kid seeing Dick Turpins condemned cell in the Castle Museum to more recent dad nerd trips to the railway museum - surely Britain’s best free museum

The Anglo Saxons called it Eoforwic (boar town) Probably because they saw in the Roman name element Ebor something which looked similar the their word for a boar (it's still Eber in modern German). You can see how the Vikings just shortened this to Yorvik. In my neck of the woods, Everton (eofor tun) meant boar farm.
