  THE WAY I GASPED WHEN YOU STARTED TALKING ABOUT ST. OLGA OF KIEV (spoiler alert). BUCKLE UP YA&apos;LL CAUSE WHEN I WAS 13 AND STILL CATHOLIC SHE WAS THE SAINT I PICKED FOR MY CONFIRMATION (basically when i became &quot;adult&quot; in the church, we pick a saint to pray to or whatever, it&apos;s not important, i&apos;m not catholic anymore) AND I HAD TO WRITE A PAPER ON HER SO IMMA TELL MY FAVORITE STORY THAT YOU DIDNT TOUCH ON (which is so valid cause it&apos;a not spooky it&apos;s just iconic, it&apos;s her conversion story for reference)<br><br>BASICALLY BECAUSE SHE WAS AMAZING AND PERFECT AND COOL AND PRETTY, A LOT OF PPL WANTED TO MARRY HER, INCLUDING A CHRISTIAN KING (if i remember he was the king of england, but dont quote me) BUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. HOMEGIRL WASNT INTERESTED. AND SHE WASNT CATHOLIC, SO SHE HAD TO BE BAPTISED. BUT SHE COULDNT JUST BE LIKE &quot;haha i&apos;m loyal to my dead husband go screw yourself&quot;, CAUSE LIKE. KING. SO INSTEAD SHE WAS LIKE &quot;ok fine. you can baptise me, but i want you to be my godfather&quot; AND THE KING WAS LIKE &quot;omg i&apos;m honored, yes&quot; AND SO HE BAPTISED HER. NOT HER HUSBAND, NOT HER FAITH, AND NOT HER REVENGE. <br><br>again i&apos;m agnostic now but i still like her, and i love how clever she was, and i love knowing other people talk about her. i aspire to be like her (without the faith and murder tbc).

  Fun little factoid: Olga and Igor (Helga and Ingvar) &nbsp;were Rurikids of norse origin and probably spoke norse. It was her son Svyatoslav (originally Sveinaldr) who fully embraced the slavic tongue and married Malusha, also a slav. The names going back to Ryurik (Rorikr) and Oleg (Helgi) were later translated by the monk Nestor in the Primary Chronicle, which is where we have most of these stories preserved.

  I will say in the original story of &quot;Sleepy Hollow&quot; written by Washington Irving, it is HEAVILY inferred that it was Brahm who scared him off, as he initially challenged Icabod to &quot;see for himself&quot; if the headless horseman is real or not.

  When I studied in Galway Ireland in the late 1980s, they were still gathering at bonfires on the hills on Halloween/Samhain and there was no trick or treating.

  Little correction on St. Olga: She is a Saint of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Later the Roman Catholics adopted this Saint, because of the Eastern Catholics (they split off the Eastern Orthodox Church to get benefits from the Roman Catholics, but they were allowed to keep their Saints and traditions). Another thing: there are some really scary stories found in ancient Christian writings. I mean ghoststories and demons.

  The Sleepy Hollow story reminded me of a childhood memory. When I was young, my Boompa (great grandfather) lived in a neighborhood that was across the street from a neighborhood named Sleepy Hollow. I had a very vivid imagination as a kid, and I always pictured that the neighborhood was a portal and when you drove in, you were transported to a different realm where the story of Sleepy Hollow was real. I was especially scared at night because I always imagined I was going to catch a glimpse of the headless horseman.
