She was beautiful, multi talented and humble. We lost a good one when we lost her.

This is my favorite song by the Carpenters! The first time I heard it, it came on the radio. I was walking down the hallway to the living room and I stopped dead in my tracks. I had never heard a voice so pure and beautiful in my life. Her voice was like silk and honey, and I fell in love with the song and her voice. It has always remained my favorite.

Close To You is the song that launched Carpenters into super stardom.

Close To You was written by the late great Burt Bacharach/Hal David.

Burt Bacharach/Hal David wrote many songs — hundreds for artists like Dionne Warwick.

Thank you Candy & Shawn & Mel!

Burt Bacharach/Hal David wrote Close To You & Karen Carpenter…also, Richard is a master arranger of all their songs that he wrote and chose. Both Karen and Richard were the background vocals. They spent months in the studios perfecting their sound:

https://youtube.com/shorts/pv-b_LjwEsA?si=yx8ZmG63JhOq5MXT

🎶🎼🎵🎤🎸🥁❤🎧🎹🎺🎻❤

When I was a little kid I thought this song was about my father with “Gold dust in his hair and his eyes of blue” That’s not the right words of the song but it’s what I heard 😂❤❤❤
