  Sister Rosetta Tharpe, the inventor of Rock Guitar. You can tell how influential she is by the fact that Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Brian Jones rented a van, then drove together from London to Manchester (approx. 200 miles/320km) to see this performance.

  This was 1964, Wilbraham Road Station, Manchester England.  Sister Tharpe was shredding that gibson long before many others.

  She is sometimes referred to as the "Godmother of Rock 'n Roll."  Also one of the very first women to play the electric guitar.  Known more for her gospel music, you've absolutely got to check out her song, "This Train."

  She’s the ORIGINAL inventor of Rock n Roll!  Beautiful voice and Played that guitar like nobody’s business!  Simply amazing!  👍🏾

  The clip was from a Granada Television show on the Blues, Muddy Waters was also in the show.   Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and Keith Richards cited the show as an influence.   Her first recordings were in 1938,  she did both religious and secular music.  One of her 1938 recordings was titled Rock Me.   She has been called "The Godmother of Rock and Roll" and "The Original Soul Sister".  Chuck Berry, Elvis, and many others were influenced by her.  She is a member of the Rock Hall of Fame, the Blues HOF, and in 2023 Rolling Stone Magazine had listed her as 6th on their All-time Guitar player list.
