This was my dad's favourite scene. We used to enjoy a cold beer together, watching a hockey or football game - or a movie. He passed 20 years ago. I miss him so fucking much. This scene always makes me cry.

There’s no such thing as a perfect movie. <br><br>Shawshank Redemption: hold my icy cold Bohemia style beer.

"Hey Andy, Want a cold one?"<br>"No thanks, gave up drinking"<br><br>That line always got me. A great expression of the duality that what Andy did was both incredibly selfish and selfless at the same time.<br><br>Andy wanted to feel normal again, no matter what it took. <br>So he did it the only way he knew how, he did something nice for people he liked.

Back in the 1949, 35k would be like $460,000 today (april 2024).

I have to give credit to Hadley, as big of a jerk he was, he kept his word. He could have had Andy do the paperwork and then refused to honor his end of the agreement, but he followed through.

This movie is a masterpiece. From beginning to end. The music, the acting, the scenes and story, it's all so moving. Hope is a dangerous thing, but the alternative is guaranteed, choose wisely.

This scene is a true masterpiece, the fact that Andy wasn't doing this for himself, he risked his life for his friends, so that they could all share this moment with one another
