Ok, so that twist for Appointment With Death is just incredible, and now i want to see THAT version dramatized!

I can't even remember who the killer was in the 2008 adaptation of Appointment with Death but I do remember that they changed it so much I was absurdly angry and kept complaining about it to everyone I knew for the next few days. Just discovered your channel and really enjoyed this video. Your line delivery on "believe it or not, this is not he bottom of the barrel" cracked me up.

I think the change made in body in the library adds an interesting layer to it to be honest. In the book Adelaide can’t escape her role as Mark’s wife even though she’s long widowed. She gets her freedom to live in her true identity with her lover because of the crime. I hadn’t read the book when I first watched this adaptation so while I assumed it was a change because I couldn’t imagine Agatha actually writing that back then, it felt really natural to me anyway

The Poirot episode of Cards on the Table changed a lot of small details but it still worked. I really enjoyed that episode and I love the book!

I think you did a good job of giving us the changes and how they affect the overall essence of the original plot

Watch the British 2008 adaptation of Appointment with Death. You'll be horrified.

Les Petits Muertes d'Agatha Christie, a French TV series that began in 2009, loosely adapted from many of her works. They made MANY changes, including the killer at least once.

The Miss Marple adaptation with Geraldine McEwan od Nemesis changes practically everything. I doubt it will make your recommended list but it's worth watching for the spectacle of so many top notch actors trying to make the story make sense.

Then follow it up with the gentle parody Murder On The Blackpool Express, which is actually a decent whodunnit.

Thanks for the shoutout! I can't say I agree that "The Sittaford Mystery" worked for us. It felt like ten pounds of plot in a five-pound sack. "The Secret of Chimneys" was dreadful.

I just got to know this channel and I will definitely go order the book you recommended! 😊

I met by chance ‘And There Was None’ as a cartoon version in children’s magazine when I was a school girl (at 9? in Korea); since then Agatha Christie has been my inspiration and secret best friend for about half a century. I went through so many different versions of books (in Korean and English that I could found), movies, BBC drama adaptations and videos, critics, and so on.

But still when I see ‘Agatha Christie’, I click..😂

Now I feel so satisfied and happy with your channel like meeting an old friend. Thank you so much and the best wishes to you and all your subscribers ❤🙏

I remember the first time seeing The Body in the Library and picking up at the time the little changes that pushed the solution in the other direction. It feels as if the change tied in with their having given Miss Marple a wartime involvement with a married man.

I never forgave The Secret of Chimneys for shoehorning in The Herb of Death.

What I liked most about Dame Agatha's adaptation of Appointment with Death was how it cleaned up what had always seemed to me as the novel's weak spot; Poirot's realization of how extraordinarily impressionable Miss Pierce was came a little too far from nowhere for the pivotal point, though the point in itself was nice. And I did like how Miss P (Pryce in the play) had the key to the solution in a completely different mistake. And didn't Joan Hickson play Miss Pryce on stage?
