Trixter of Hornet here. What a wonderful thing to see today, what a nice tribute to the demoscene, and appreciate the shout-out. Expect to see your handle in my next greetz 😄

Stormcaller of Slipstream here, Even if you aren’t a coder you can still make a difference in the demoscene, and long may it continue! If someone reading this is curious about the scene but would find a large event like Revision overwhelming for them, there are plenty of small parties and events happening that might work out better for you, and are no less part of the scene.

As for demos, I really rate “13 minutes 37 seconds” by Fairlight on the C64 as a masterclass in both technical ability and storytelling, “VX-2” by Spectrals for pure vibes on modern PC, and “Immaterial” on Nintendo Wii-U by us because my friends made it, i’m biased, and it’s comfy :)

When people say that "Restrictions improve art", this is what they mean. All of these things would be trivial to accomplish on any PC since Y2K, but the difficulty is, itself, part of the piece. The fact that no one intended for you to be able to do this, is why doing it is so important.

Used to make music for crackintros in the late 80s to early 90s. Miss those times.

Still make music to demos - last ones were from five years ago I think.

This video is my life in 86 when I'd just turned 20. Thanks for the great reminder of the good days. I paid 2 and a half grand for the Amiga 1000. Extra 1010 drive came a year later. cheers bro

Lovely video, thank you! I was Firefly of THR back in the day and it was a thrill to see a clip of Sideways Copper just before you started showing your code, that was one of my productions back in 1990. I adored the Amiga, and writing demos was a huge part of my teenage years, I do miss the challenge, the excitement, the creativity, the sideways thinking that the art form demanded. Thanks for an enjoyable trip down nostalgia avenue!

Amiga demoscene guys in Europe: keep in mind that your art has traveled all over the world, even to distant places like here in Argentina. It was a great memory to see those incredible demos that put all other systems to shame (who could forget the impressive 'State of the Art' demo?). My greetings and appreciation to all of you.

Dbug from Defence-Force (and "Next" before that) here: Breaking Oric and Atari emulators is one of my favorite activities, when I released my STNICCC 2015 "Time Slices" demo, none of the emulators were emulating the Atari STe hardware registers in monochrome mode, and at this year's Sommarhack, half of the "mixed -resolution" entries would not run properly on either Steem or Hatari 😁
