In an interview I saw ejae talked about training all those years and finally having to come to terms with the fact her dream was never going to happen. She talked about having to apologize to her younger self for not achieving what she always wanted. She also mentioned that her grandma always said words mattered and she was so happy that her first big break was a positive song when all she’d written before were kind of negative. I was almost in tears it was heart wrenching. So happy for her.

"You hit where it hurts cuz I gave you the bullets " is a brilliant  lyric.

As a woman with a naturally very low voice, like deeper than tenor even sometimes, seeing her succeed makes me cry so hard. I got taught by my choir teachers to hate my voice and force myself to sing high alto, insisting that all women could be sopranos if they just tried hard enough, so seeing EJAE kinda deal with similar things only to become one of the biggest artists in the world who is loved BECAUSE her voice is so low is just. Like seeing everyone praise her for a trait we both were taught to be ashamed of...I wish little me could see this. I'm so happy for her, and this song is incredible.

I definitely cannot wait until she drops a full album. She is one of my favorite voices due to her tone and feelings she gives me when i listen to this song.

Learning EJAE's backstory and how she spent all these years as a K-pop trainee only to never debut in the end, must have been such a kick in the teeth: all that time spent for ultimately nothing, but good thing she decided to pivot into song-writing instead which ultimately lead to KPDH...so she could share her talent with the rest of the world. And this song shows off her song-writing and her singing: the last chorus when she goes up an octave and starts belting it out is such an out of body experience.

What a win for the rest of the world that EJAE was rejected by K-pop.

She is crazy, crazy good. Almost otherworldly. One hallmark, especially in her lower register, is this super intimate, close-up breathing (not only the general 'breathiness' with her masterful airflow management, but the actual catching of air). She also does it in other songs ('Once Again', 'Take it Slow') and uses it rhythmically. So vulnerable and energetic at the same time. If there's one great thing that 2025 has brought us, it's Ejae and her music.

Ejae really has it all. Such an amazing all round talent, such an elegance and class in anything she does, while also being very down to earth. I love seeing her going through this amazing success and I wish her only the best.

I have fallen for Ejae's success story. My 2 daughters were obsessed with the movie when it came out, easily 2 or 3 times a day. I'm a 36 yr old dad who almost exclusively listens to rock like Slipknot and the like. I've actually grown to like some of the songs from the movie and now having learned her story I just love the inadvertent "sticking it to the kpop world" she has done while being incredibly humble and kind in her interviews.

She wasn't told she's too old at first. It was mainly that her voice was too deep for Kpop. Then she got older and it was a double whammy.

"I was thinking about space, and not the one between us". Bruh you can't gut-punch me like that in line 1 that's illegal
