It was originally written when she and her now fiancée were on an intentional break during a really difficult time in their lives, but EJAE has said more recently that the song has become a conversation with her younger self, the one who worked so hard for 10 years only to never debut as an idol. She has mentioned in interviews about feeling sorry for younger EJAE having to go through that, and losing a childhood in the process

She's the most emotive singer I have ever heard. Her voice and delivery are a treasure.  Her ability to create a perfect little song with an emotional arc is second to none. This song is essentially two verses and three choruses, yet the subtle build in energy she imparts at each stage keeps raising the energy and getting us ready for the crescendo that comes just past the midway mark, allowing the listener to get completely swept away in the emotional wave she has created for us.  Everything about this song and video lends itself to focusing on her vocals, and that was such a great choice for her solo debut. We cannot wait for the full album.

I tear up every time Ejae hits those high notes and crumble more at the words that were crafted say what was in her soul.

I know she had her heart set on becoming a K-Pop idol, but I can see her absolutely thriving in the space as a solo artist in the vein of Alicia Keys, Adele and Nora Jones.  If she had joined a group, she would be swallowed by it.  Shes a rare talent, and is easily capable of standing on her own.

I discovered her from Kpop Demon Hunters and can honestly say I'm a fan for life, she is incredible. I heard this song the day it came out and was immediately blown away, I teared up cause I had an emotional reaction to it, thats when you know a song just hits. Goes without saying its been added to my playlist. 10/10

The family member is her younger self. She's singing about the relationship between who she is now and the younger version of herself. They're in other worlds! It's a fantastic song. So happy to live in EJAE's world :)

She said she wrote this when she and her fiance were on an intentional break from each other.  She was thinking about the infinite possibilities like how in another world they weren't on break, or they might not have met, etc

She came out of nowhere last year, with the voice of an angel... and a bulldozer that runs over your soul.

Elvis Duran did a great in-studio interview with EJAE. She talks about what this song is about (among other things).
