EJAE has been very open about her performance anxiety "I get stage fright."<br>At The Tonight's Show first rehearsal, she said when she went to sing "Just air came out" (no tone.)<br>She has admitted to having a panic attack and breaking down crying. She credits her fiancé and manager for getting her to "Focus on the lyrics. Not the high notes."

I love how supportive Rei and Audrey are of Ejae too. They’ve been solo artists for a long time and could easily have been resentful of breaking out as basically backup singers. In all the interviews and here on stage they just seem so happy for Ejae to finally be getting her shine, and so supportive of her while she acclimates to being a star. So sweet ❤

So, yeah, EJAE was recovering from bronchitis, BUT she also suffered from a panic attack the morning of the recording.<br>She had lost her voice.<br>Yes, like Rumi in the movie. 😅

Something about this live performance that makes this metalheads eyes get watery. It's weird. But the run from that low note to that high note

You got Audrey and Rei mixed up. The double buns hair is Rei Ami and the big shoulder pads is Audrey Nuna.

Devoted metalhead here. Every song on that film is brilliant, clicked on this as soon as I saw it in my sub box!

I will forever stand by the feeling that this live performance sounds better than the studio recording. I love the fuller, richer sound. It makes the whole thing feel so much more emotional.

I don't even like kpop but after learning about her, I don't know that I've ever been so pleased to see someone finally break through and get the recognition they deserved after being overlooked for so long for stupid reasons

EJAE<br><br>At 11, Kim Eun-jae (later known as EJAE) became a trainee at SM Entertainment, a prestigious and demanding South Korean multinational entertainment company. She sacrificed her teenage years and trained relentlessly for over a decade. <br><br>At 23, Kim was told by SM Entertainment that she was too tall (5’ 8.5”) and her voice was too dark, not feminine enough to debut as a K-pop idol or a solo artist. Her dream to be a singer was crushed.<br><br>At 33, EJAE’s song “Golden” was number 1 on BILLBOARD HOT 100™️ for 8 weeks and achieved double platinum status. On November 7, 2025, EJAE was nominated for the “Song of the Year” award at the 68th Annual GRAMMY®️ Awards (along with three other nominations).<br><br>Karma!

It seemed so effortless at the time. So it is easy to forget that this was actually Ejae’s first ever live performance of anything. And for that performance to be such a difficult song to perform, it is a credit to her and how good she is. All of that was despite her recent illness and the panic attack she had that day. And she still nailed it. I’m sure Audrey and Rei both helped her a lot. They’re both experienced performers and would have been great friends and helpers for her in the lead up to this show.
