  I sold my car in August after using it 3 times the whole year. Switching to public transport and occassional car hire has been the best life hack I've had.

  I knew a guy when I lived in Austin who owned an asset management firm and was worth hundreds of millions. Dude drove a 15 year old Honda accord and couldn’t care less. Now THAT is rich.

  Talking to kids about money is important. We listen to your podcast in the car and pause to ask each other questions and get their opinions. My son is a savage mini-Remit. He will tell you exactly what a podcast guest is wasting their money on. We also discuss how we prioritize our finances.  Pretty simple - max out our 401(k)/IRA, we have an emergency fund, and then an additional Vanguard account.   As a family, we say "we save money to spend on things that are important:  making family memories (usually travel and family outings).  This does occasionally come back to bite us. When shopping for new clothes, he said to me, "Mom, you already have shoes..." Yes, this was a real conversation.

  I am a doctor in my early 50s from Malaysia. After watching so many financial videos, i've decided to watch yours, Ramit. One of the main reason is, I like the idea of spending on what I value and enjoy most. Thanks, now my finances have improved and my net worth is also improving. Keep doing the awesome job.

  I love spending guilt free on books! Every month I go to the bookstore and wander, picking up whatever titles look interesting. It’s usually $100-250 and it’s the most fun I have with money all month! Since I started, I’ve read books about dinosaurs, the history of papyrus, murder mysteries, the hunt for el dorado, egyptologists work to save abu simbel and more. 100% guilt free spending❤

  I’m ready for my third phase in finances. Phase 1 was Dave Ramsey with beans and rice and creating a foundation. Phase 2 was Ramit to help me maintain my finances and enjoy life. Phase 3 is getting rich now and not waiting until retirement.

  Paid off my credit card debt 🎊 just personal loan left.. Paying iit off while investing, saving emergency funds, and setting aside portion of money for guilt free spending.. Thank you Ramit my husband and I are more focused now in our goal...

  I couldn‘t agree more with Ramit about the cars. It is the biggest waste of money (that a lot of us don‘t even have)! Everyone should consider saving money first and then buying a car in cash to avoid the high monthly payments. You don‘t need a truck or anything else just to impress people you don‘t even like. My husband and I are sharing a car. On the days I need the car to go to work I take public transport- it‘s not great but better than having to pay for 2 cars.
