  Ted definitely didn’t write the playbook because the final page, The Robin involved Ted thinking that he was proposing to someone else which was written down that way

  Here&apos;s one: Penny is named Penny because of the lucky penny that prevented him from going to Chicago the first time. At the end, Ted takes the job in Chicago and only doesn&apos;t go because he met Tracy. But if he hadn&apos;t found that lucky penny, he would&apos;ve been in Chicago years sooner. Hence the daughter&apos;s name, Penny.

  The mother always dying theory isn&apos;t a theory, i thought that was a possibility in season 1, i thought &quot;what if Ted is telling this story to his kids because she died&quot;, i was off on the timeline though, i figured she&apos;d recently passed. And i wasn&apos;t the only one that theorized that either back then, lots of people thought that

  If the Ted having Alzheimer&apos;s theory is true, then that means that the Ted having a terminal illness theory would have to be true too, since alzheimer&apos;s is fatal.

  I always hated the ending. Robin should not have gotten any type of win. And after time I see Ted is an insufferable character who’s to deadest on fulfilling a selfish fantasy. Even with the ass narration from Ted I think Barney, Marshall, and Lily give the story its legs.

  some of the more outlandish theories, like Ted completly altering Barney&apos;s character, depend on the unrealisticness of the events depicted, but that&apos;s a sitcom. In every sitcom we see characters doing manipulative, deceptive things that if you did to your friends, you&apos;d be a jerk. But they are necesary to move the story forward, to creat conflict, to look for resolution. Yes, Ted is an unreliable narrator, but the instances we see this are clearly shown and recognized by the show, so I think this theory streaches that point.
