  What’s funny is I started watching this show in Ramadi, Iraq in 2008 when I was deployed with 2nd Battalion 9th Marines. Someone had the 2 seasons on dvd and we worked out a schedule to watch the show on a small tv. Sometimes we would have 20 Marines watching 5 episodes in a row and then go on post. The Marines on post would then watch the 5 episodes we watched and we would talk about the episodes later. Fun times, Semper Fi.

  Ted was the narrator of the story and he did not know anything about Barney&apos;s job, so the audience could not know either. Ted did not have any of Barney&apos;s knowledge of his job. The audience did not get to know any more about Barney&apos;s job than Ted. Since Ted was narrating the story to children, Barney&apos;s need to wear a suit might have been child-friendly code for a drug addiction or alcoholism. There was a scene where Barney goes into a withdrawal when he was not wearing a suit and he goes to the bathroom to put on a suit. He was acting like a drug addict there. The audience was free to think that.

  Seriously one of the best plot twists ever! Such a bold move to even reveal his job and by that ending the running gag after 9 seasons. And the fact that it&apos;s connected to his origin story and that he had a very personal agenda the whole time makes it so much more satisfying.

  I actually overheard a twenty year old describing his job a parkrun.<br><br>(My words) He was basically the Australian jailable entity for a foreign company.
