  Obsidian is such a great case study of the fact that brands are only as good as their current employees. KOTOR 2 and New Vegas were great because of their devs, especially the writers and quest designers, but both are well over a decade old. Current Obsidian doesn’t warrant the same pedigree, because it’s not made up of the same people.

  Its really interesting hearing obsidians culture of never going all in.  It definitely explains the feeling that obsidian puts the bare minimum into their games. Prior to the xbox acquisition it was acceptable and even respected when they were able punch up in terms of quality given their budget, but now they're making AA quailty games at the time and money it takes to create a full priced AAA game.

  Played the previous game, the Outer Worlds, i understood the Old Obsidian was long gone, the real talent were fired or quit. Nothing but COLD ASH.

  These game companies really need to develop strict social media policies. I've seen way too many devs dump bad PR on their games for saying stupid shit online and then refusing to shut up and dig a deeper and deeper hole for the game.

  Obsidian now has a pattern regarding how they develop/market their games.<br>We can go back to the first Outer Worlds announcement as an example.<br><br>&gt;Release a trailer for a new &quot;Open World FPS RPG&quot;, &quot;From the ORIGINAL creators of FALLOUT!&quot;<br>&gt;Fast forward, it&apos;s now a couple weeks before launch.<br>&gt;&quot;Don&apos;t compare Outer Worlds to Fallout- that&apos;s not what we&apos;re trying to do- it&apos;s just not within our scope!&quot;<br><br>Rinse and repeat for Avowed and Elder Scrolls.<br>&gt;Release a trailer for a first-person high-fantasy RPG.<br>&gt;Conveniently wait until a couple weeks before launch to tell everyone &quot;Hey, this isn&apos;t going to be anything like Elder Scrolls, by the way- so you&apos;re not allowed to critique our First-Person RPG by those standards.&quot;<br><br>I&apos;m glad I skipped out on Avowed, and I&apos;ll likely be skipping out on anything else they make in the future until something hits 90%+ positive on Steam.

  When this game was out I found out it took place in the Pillars of Eternity universe. I got both POE games then. I loved each one --- great storytelling, great rpg (I was shocked at so many dialogues options), good story, good companions, good voice acting. Then I went back to Avowed and was so excited bc I had really fell in love with the POE universe. <br><br>I was so disappointment I didn&apos;t even finish the game.
