It’s sad how his character is remembered as the guy who dated both girls on his team and was dumped for each other

This a fair take on Mako who had to grow up too quickly while Korra was too sheltered. She wanted independence because she was sick of being coddled. Her only friends before this were a polar bear dog, and possibly Katara, her former lover in a past life, so she was not used to socializing with people her age.

Korra was not mature enough for a relationship. Neither was Mako.

One thing I actually appreciate about Mako and Korra post-breakup is they're allowed to still be supportive friends that get along. It'd be very easy for them to act like they can never be in the same place together without some bad blood like some other shows would easily do

Mako is slimmer, more slender than Bolin. Probably couldn't put on that much weight because he always had to make sure Bolin ate first

Oh sure he's messy, but he is without a doubt a good dude and a committed big brother.

OMG, YES! It's about time! Mako is one of my favorite characters, and he's very overhated and misunderstood, even more than Korra to a certain extent. And he's not Zuko 2.0 despite being a firebender with similar appearances to Zuko. Mako has his own personality; he's no-nonsense, aloof, mature, street-savvy, intelligent, level-headed, indecisive, but also caring, brave, protective. If anything, Mako is more similar to Katara and Leonardo from most versions of the TMNT franchise. Not to mention that Mako is very easy on the eyes and his voice actor, David Faustino did an excellent job voicing him while also making my heart melt like chocolate.

I honestly think him dying would’ve been a bittersweet moment and could’ve been a choice, but I am glad he was saved in time by Bolin. Ngl I was ready for Mako to die there, had tears in my eyes haha.

I always LOVED Mako and everyone else made fun of me for it, people just don't care enough to look into how anyone would react logically in these crazy and intense situations he keeps getting put in. He is very realistic and strong. Love your videos man, keep it up

Mako is a far better character than people realize. The one thing that annoys me about the fandom, amongst many things, is how everyone seems to think these characters are full grown adults. They're not. They're teenagers. These characters are 16-17 years old, they are at the height of raging hormones and bad decisions! Of course their relationships were messy! Of course they made mistakes! How many of us were perfect at 17 and had perfect relationships? We may not have all been in love triangles but teenagers will always be messy. And the fact is he grew from that, he recognized his mistakes, they all did. That's what makes his character so great and well written.
