As much as Zuko is credited for being such a well developed character, it’s easy to forget that his development as a person was guided by Iroh. Iroh found solace for the loss of his son by helping his nephew reach his fullest potential and Zuko became the “son” he had lost. Their relationship is very beautiful

“Sometimes life is like this dark tunnel, you can’t always see the light at the end of the tunnel, but if you just keep moving, you will come to a better place.” -Iroh

The saddest part of Leaves on the Vine is that the voice actor wrote the song himself because he was dying of cancer. He was actually crying when he recorded the song, and the picture of Iroh’s son was a picture of the voice actor, Mako, when he was younger. <br>That’s why the episode dedicated to Mako

&quot;Water is the element of change. The people of the water tribe are capable of adapting to many things. They have a deep sense of community and love that holds them together through anything. Earth is the element of substance. The people of the earth kingdom are diverse and strong. They are persistent and enduring. Fire is the element of power. The people of the fire nation have desire and will, and the energy and drive to achieve what they want. Air is the element of freedom. The air nomads detached themselves from worldly concerns and found peace and freedom. Also they apparently had pretty good senses of humor.&quot;😁

Zuko has the best on screen character arc in TV history but Iroh has the best character arc ever. His arc is epitomized in his trips to Ba Sing Se, he was first a conquerer, then a refugee, and last a liberator.

For me, Iroh and Zuko, represents that fire is not simple burning, destruction or reducing things to ashes. He made me saw that fire is warmth, protection from cold, good food, light and nice green tea. 🍵🔥
