  I like the stainless wire shelves from costco with wheels.  Can move and clean behind anytime or change the layout.   Also if you move you can wheel the shelves right onto moving truck.

  Not too many builders offered a finished garage back when we bought our home in 1999.  The entry level homes almost always have unfinished garages.  Buying the step up homes comes with finished garage (3 car garage).  At that time it cost $4,500 per bay to finish a garage,  so a 2 car garage is $9,000 and was considered an upgrade for the entry level homes.   Looking back now,  glad we opted for the step up home with finished 3 car garage...the extra storage space is invaluable 😊.

  I learned in my previous house that lighting matters also enough power sockets at the right places. My garage was not very well lightened, and I like to work on motorcycles. When I was younger a bit of darkness was not a problem, my eyes were still 100%. From 40 onwards I slowly  entered less to work, only did the necessary. It was becoming too dark to read tool adjustments, measurements, or manuals. I started working with some cheap lamp hanging around, needing extension cords for the lamp, the compressor, and the drill or charger to work. It started to become frustrating. Power sockets are also important, you can't have enough of them at your work bench, as well as left and right where your working space is. I still prefer power tools over battery for almost all machines. In the house I'm moving to now, I'm carefully designing the workshop electrics to not encounter the same mistake, and find the joy again of hanging out at this space. I'm also painting the walls with chalk, so no spiders or other insects like to live there.

  The other deal with garages is there is not a standard for garage size. Couple of feet each direction changes the layout you can work with. I found this out with my current home. I couldn&apos;t get my truck in the garage. &nbsp;I measured it and realized it was small. After looking around I found out 2 car garages are 19&apos; -22&apos;,24&apos;. I feel like mine is sideways &nbsp;at 17&apos; x20&apos;. My truck is 17&apos; long. <br> &nbsp; Thanks for all of the insight here.

  I have a 3 &quot;car&quot; detached garage that was built in the 1920&apos;s. It has manual doors that move horizontally. Only one door can be open at a time and the doors do not create a seal. The entire space is owned by spiders and smells like rodent urine. The floor is uneven and cracked. The footprint is too small for my truck. I need to raze the entire thing and start over. I&apos;ll be revisiting this video when I do.

  I have always been very mindful of the garages in the houses I have bought (three houses to date). My first house had a three car sized garage - but only for two cars (it is deeeeeep). &nbsp;Loved it for a &apos;regular&apos; house. &nbsp;My next house had a three car attached garage and also a two car sized garage and another three car sized shop/garage. &nbsp;My current house has a 52&apos; x 70&apos; shop with 3 car attached garage. &nbsp;Yeah - I am spoiled....<br>My in-laws garage was unfinished and we insulated and drywalled it out. &nbsp;They loved it till the house sold. &nbsp;We did the work ourselves. &nbsp;We sold the house later and it was a big bonus for us compared to other houses in our neighborhood. &nbsp;<br>Excellent video.... &nbsp;and the tips are right on spot.

  Every house I’ve bought (3) the first thing I tell the realtor is I will not even consider a home with a converted garage. I’d rather have a home with NO garage than one with a converted garage.
