I am a contractor and cabinet builder, and I only use a saw guide to cut down sheet goods when I am building carcasses. I use my jobsite table saw for smaller, more manageable cuts. Though I have cut sheet goods on my jobsite table saw before, I have never done so without an extra set of hands.

I wish that Kreg solution was around when I had the little shop in the back corner of the house. Thanks for sharing - this will no doubt be a huge help for many upon many out there! :_fistbump:

If not for ripping multiple board feet of rough walnut lumber on a weekly basis, I’d seriously consider going exclusively with track saw and MFT style workbench.

Man, I’m literally about to resign (been planning for months) from a $120,000+/year job to start building furniture in my garage. I’ve been desperate to get away from computers and politics since I started my current job. Thanks for all you do, brother.

Ohhhh I wish you would do a video titled "Build Your Tiny Woodshop". Just a high speed run through of tools, alternate tools, layout, and options for the repurposed space you're hijacking for the shop.

Oh, before I forget, one of the big things I think we need for the track saw are more jigs, and more means to clamp boards on the side and edges of MFT tables for more joinery options.

Just a thought.

I have the Dash-Board MFT table with all the accessories and use it with my Festool TS60. It's been amazing to use and I haven't had a need to use my table saw or miter saw while building a closet system and a miter saw station.

Most tablesaw injuries are probably caused by people who are tired, or over complacent with the tool. And they make a count that they knew wasn't the best. Respect for woodworking tools is the 1st step to injury prevention.

Start @5:33: Track saw + dedicated table/Adapters, e.g. Kreg Adaptive Cutting System or Festool MF3 Table. Adapters, miter gauges, stop blocks help with cuts, rips, miters. Suggested safer, more compact and better dust control than table saw.

It’s very helpful that you mentioned the difficulty of managing a whole sheet of plywood as we get older. It’s the primary reason that I got rid of my immensely heavy tablesaw. I felt I could no longer handle a whole sheet safely. But I do still need to cut them! The same thing applies to long timbers. I recently built a hanging pot rack for my cast iron pans out of 2x2’s and a 2x4 and was heartily wishing that I’d gotten out to buy that track saw I clearly need.

If you want a cheaper option than the Festool MFT or Kreg, you can look at the Metabo MWB 100. It is a fraction of the price, a little lighter in weight and also more compact.

I have it at home and can recommend it!
