  Insomnia isn’t so bad when stuff like this pops up in one’s feed! It’s 1.00 am and my bedroom window is open, the rain is beating down outside and I’ve just watched you cook a juicy lump of beef 🥩 on a little Trangia cookset. Marvellous, utterly marvellous! 😋

  Anyone moaning about a good youtuber like Paul using an affiliate link needs to bore off. He uses the stuff all the time and it looks really good. Another great video I&apos;m going to go for a dangle in the hammock this weekend I think.

  At Dollar Tree in the U.S., they sell a 4 pack of 1/2 oz screw top bottles ( and half sized ones) in the craft aisle. A kid&apos;s metal game tin containing puzzles and stickers holds 8 bottles perfectly.

  I bought a Mini Trangia for hiking or rock climbing days out and backpacking treks in 1989. It suffered an accidental drop and roll down a scree which dented it, one of which became a tiny hole, about 20 years later, so that became US, but the burner lives on and still has its original O ring seal. I also still use the spring steel pot grabber that came with it. Presumably the latest Minis use the older style clamp type pot grabber as well as having non-stick coating. &nbsp;I like the Trangia bag for it… I just used an old bike toe clip strap to secure it from popping open in my sac or if accidentally dropped.<br><br>I also make my own burners out of pop/beer cans as they’re super lightweight for days out and backpacking, and measure to what I’m heating with a non-sharp syringe 💉, but the Trangia for more lengthy base camps and in freezing conditions as it can be carried with its own fuel in an inside jacket pocket to keep at body temperature, and it will light easily. <br><br>I also add 10% water to meths (rarely use bioethanol as I have to go out of my way to get it and meths is more readily available) with no noticeable drop in performance, and it reduces sooting, the added purple dye being the main cause of that.<br><br>I don’t mind soot that much, I just rub the loose stuff of with a handful of grass or leaves and leave the pot base black. That’s because shiny surfaces reflect heat, black surface absorbs totally and heats up the contents a bit faster.<br><br>Tarps are super, greater flexibility of set up than a tent which can only be set up one way, and on the ground. 🙂

  Again , love your videos. I watched my first Paul Messner video a few years ago when Murray (Scotland mountains) mentioned you. If you were to ask me then would I watch a middle aged man set up a tarp in woodland in Sheffield and cook a steak I would have laughed. Hand on heart I’d watch you read the shipping forecast. I’m sure you’d still manage to put some useful tips in. Keep going Lord Paul and Lady Jo
