  One of the ladies asked about Ripley's nose bleeding: In a deleted scene that was partially filmed, Parker notices that the creature is rummaging through the crew's foodstuffs. He then quietly contacts Ripley over the intercom to open the outer airlock. Edit: All goes well until a klaxon alarm sounds, startling the creature. It dashes away, but not before being damaged; one of the creature's limbs gets caught in the airlock door, shearing it off. The acid from the creature causes a decompression of the ship, thus resulting in Ripley's nosebleed. It's suspected that Ash sounded the alarm so as to "protect" the alien. Hope that helps!

  &quot;Show me the alien, already!&quot;<br>um.... you might want to rethink that!<br><br>in 1979, just 2 years after Star Wars made its debut to the world, director Ridley Scott was a genius! in his trailer for Alien, all that was shown was an egg with a crack in it, eerie green light spilling out of the crack, with the Title card being spelled out just like in the movie, with the phrase, &quot;In space, no one can hear you scream.&quot; <br>THAT&apos;s ALL!<br>nothing on who was in the movie, no shots of the alien, no action shots of the crew running around, no spoilers of any kind. EVERYONE went to the theater completely blind, and the effect it had on the world became iconic!

  FUN FACTS: The blue laser lights that were used in the alien ship&apos;s egg chamber were borrowed from The Who. The band was testing out the lasers for their stage show in the soundstage next door.<br>Shredded condoms were used to create tendons of the beast&apos;s ferocious jaws.<br>According to Yaphet Kotto (Parker), Sir Ridley Scott told him to annoy Sigourney Weaver off-camera, so that there would be genuine tension between their characters. Kotto regretted this, because he really liked Weaver.<br>To get Jones the cat to react fearfully to the descending Alien, a German Shepherd was placed in front of him with a screen between the two, so the cat wouldn&apos;t see it at first. The screen was then suddenly removed to make Jones stop advancing and start hissing.<br>The dead facehugger that Ash autopsies was made using fresh shellfish, four oysters, and a sheep kidney to re-create the internal organs. Filming had to be done quickly because the organic material would go bad very fast under the studio lights.<br>In H.R. Giger&apos;s original illustrations that inspired the look of the Alien, the creature had eyes. For the movie, Giger insisted that the creature have no eyes, thus giving the bleak appearance of a cold and emotionless beast that hunts by instinct or smell. Fans have later theorized that the creature&apos;s domed head contains sensory organs that allow the creature to detect light and dark or see via echolocation (like bats) or electro-location (like sharks).<br>Sir Ridley Scott stated that in casting the role of Ripley, it ultimately came down to Sigourney Weaver and Meryl Streep. The two actresses had been college mates at Yale. Ultimately, Weaver was offered the job because Streep was mourning the death of her partner John Cazale at the time of casting.<br>For the scene in which the facehugger attacks, the egg was upside down above the camera, and the operator thrust it down toward the lens like a hand puppet.<br>The original cut of this movie ran three hours and twelve minutes.<br>The first day that she shot a scene involving Jones the cat, Sigourney Weaver&apos;s skin started reacting badly. Horrified, the young actress immediately thought that she might be allergic to cats, and that it would be easier for the production to re-cast her, instead of trying to find four more identical cats. As it turned out, Weaver was reacting to glycerin sprayed on her skin to make her look hot and sweaty.<br>Twentieth Century Fox doubled the budget from $4.2 million to $8.4 million on the strength of seeing Sir Ridley Scott&apos;s storyboards.<br>Ripley was originally written as male. Sir Ridley Scott made the choice early in the production to change the character to female.

  Spaceballs imitated this scene for that movie. Even hired the same actor (John Hurt) to play the guy. That&apos;s why he said in Spaceballs, &apos;&apos;oh no, not again.&apos;&apos;

  A friend of mine who saw this film on Times Square in 1979 says someone shouted the same thing when the baby Alien emerged: &quot;A dick with teeth!&quot; It brought the house down.

  Best Truckers In Space film...Fun Fact - They use children in space suits for the first interior shots of the alien ship to make it all look bigger. No one listens to Ripley throughout the franchise untill it&apos;s too late.

  Parker and Ripley were the only crewmen with any common sense—It’s a shame they didn’t get along in the beginning.

  One of the Best Sci Fi horror movies ever made!<br>This made Sigourney Weaver a star!<br>It won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.<br>Fun fact: Dan O&apos;Bannon, Chris Foss, HR Giger, and Jean Moebius Giraud were hired by Ridley Scott after Alejandro Jodorowsky&apos;s DUNE adaptation was cancelled in 1975. Some of their original art concepts from the DUNE adaptation were used in the final cut of the movie.<br><br>Katherine Ross, Carrie Fisher, And Meryl Streep were considered for the role of Ellen Ripley, until Sigourney Weaver was picked.<br><br>Harrison Ford and Kurt Russell were considered for Captain Dallas until Tom Skerritt was picked.<br><br>John Finch was picked as Kane, and they filmed a couple of scenes with the actor until it was revealed he had diabetes and had to drop out and was replaced by John Hurt.<br><br>Peter Mayhew, Chewbacca from Star Wars, was going to play the titular character in the movie and was going to play the PREDATOR in the 1987 Film<br><br>Jack Clayton, Robert Aldrich, Robert Altmans and Walter Hill were considered for director until Ridley Scott was picked after Fox producers were impressed by his first film The Duellists in 1977
