Hi Don and Brenda.  I enjoy your channel so much.  Last year, I had an accident, I fell down stairs and destroyed my left knee.  While I was recovering,  I discovered YouTube and my homesteading dream started to unfold.  I don't have land, but I do have a very nice courtyard that I had never considered growing food on until I started watching all the YouTube channels.  My accident has left me impaired, but I set up 2 raised beds, bought 3 Greenstalk vertical planters and a few containers.  My courtyard is beautiful with a mix of flowers and vegetables.  It feels so good to have started this journey at 69.  I also cook from scratch, mill my own flour and bake everything sourdough.  The two of you and countless other folks and their channels brought joy to my life that I didn't even know I was missing.  We live in southern Delaware, however, I grew up in south central PA and loved my childhood.  As I look back on life, my parents were homesteaders.  I'm now at this stage of life feeling the satisfaction that they always expressed from being self sufficient and the love of cooking from scratch that both of my parents enjoyed all of their lives.  Todays video really hit home with me.  I also had a corporate career, retired early, started my own business and now have stepped away from that environment.   I have found so much joy and satisfaction from loving nature and living the simple life at the beach.  Thank you for sharing your homesteading journey with all of us.  The both of you are a great inspiration.  Many blessings to both of you and your family.   Terry

I'm 70 on 62 acres in central NY. I find it keeps my mind and body in good shape.

This is great. It’s good to see homesteaders on YouTube that are “older” than what you normally see. Thank you for your insight!

Like your channel very much!  The must have prerequisite to this is that your spouse shares your level of passion for this life and dream.  I bought 50 acres 12 years ago and am now 67.  I now have a cabin, barn fruit tree orchard, chestnut tree grove and large section of blueberries, elderberry, blackberries and muscadines.  It is all irrigated.  When I bought this land you couldn't even drive into the property.  Other than building the cabin I have done 100% of this alone.  I have learned this is my dream and everyone else in the family learned actually doing it is way different than watching it on youtube.  You guys are fortunate.

My husband (59) and I (53)  just purchased 40 acres. We're not retired yet, but gradually setting up our homestead. It can be intimidating.  So encouraging to see you two being successful!!

I just LOVE your story! Especially since your daughter suggested you buy the farm you have, and then you did and you not only have chickens and your garden but your family living near you! It’s so awesome!

I started with a 3’x 6’ herb garden and a tomato plant….I now have chickens, rabbits (bunny poo is the best fertilizer ever), a bee hive, a small orchard, and I raise/preserve about 80% of our food.  Your advice is spot on!!!  I love you both….wishing you an abundant season on your beautiful homestead….💜

Thanks for encouraging folks to go for  it even if they are older.  I purchased 40 acres of raw land in the middle of nowhere in NE Arizona during Covid and moved out here on my own three years ago to build an offgrid homestead on my own. I have horses, chickens, dogs, cats,.... My life has never been better. Every day is a learning experience.

Good for you both!  I am 63 and plan within the year to do the same, only on a smaller scale. A new purpose!
