  They should keep the whole set intact and sell tours to the public, with tour guides dressed in Async yellow suits. I would totally pay to visit it irl

  My hot take is that if you have even a modicum of media literacy, you don’t need any prior knowledge of the Backrooms. Not every question in a surreal horror needs an answer, you can just sit with the discomfort the movie is trying to sow

  I took my teenage son to see this movie for his birthday, I walked Into the theater so blind to the franchise I had to ask my son what the movie was called again as I was buying the tickets... and I loved it. You really don't need to see the pervious videos to enjoy the film, infact the extra bits of confusion might enhance the movie in some ways.

  My wife specifically did not want to watch the youtube series before seeing the movie and she definitely picked up on some of the themes from the series and "understood" what was going on from start to finish, so I'd say Kane succeeded in making it accessible to new viewers and fans alike.

  the head is 100% the caveman cutout from earlier to imply thats where whatever creature that was drags its prey

  One thing I liked was Clark’s character because the scariest thing about him is we can all fall down the same path. I felt for him the whole film even though he had his demons we all felt like him once or twice or more, that feeling when the world pushes us down over and over again and we can’t be who we want to be and our demons make us feel we need to be alone. When he said “I don’t think I want to change” it’s heartbreaking because that’s a path people can go down, trying to change becomes to tiring to the point we just give up on being better. That’s what the monster represents his desperation and anger manifested and even when Clark tries to talk with it it’s too late it consumes him just like anger did all his life and left once again alone. I like it when you have realistic people who just can’t be better because it’s how we and other people feel with whatever life gives us.

  I think the entire time the monster was just Captain Clark. He's obscured for most of the film as a way of reflecting Clark's personality and mindset that prevents him from seeing that he is the problem, and he is the reason people around him are suffering, which is why when he finally accepts that he is the problem, Captain Clark is fully revealed and immediately kills him. I think its supposed to communicate that he would've killed himself had he come to that realization without the aid of Mary and the backrooms.

  Windchimes are usually a nod to Ivan Beck the protagonist & antagonist of the web series. Kane always seems to pair the sound of windchimes with that character, the theory being Ivan was the first person to come in contact with the Complex. My guess it was for the fans of the web series to notice, but maybe something more too.

  <b>**SPOILERS**</b><br><br><br><br><br>I&apos;ve read this comment on penguinz0 video about the movie and it&apos;s just so good i need to share it here as well<br> &quot;I had this convo with my bf after the movie. I believe the Pirate Clark reveal was perfect because of what he represents. I pointed out that in the first session Clark makes a short comment that he “doesn&apos;t bother getting too close to people because he hurts them” and Mary points out that deep inside Clark feels alone. Pirate Clark looks desperate and afraid when Mary is out of his reach because Pirate Clark doesn&apos;t want to be alone but we know, like Clark, when he gets close enough he&apos;ll hurt her. When Clark sent his voice message to Mary he talked about “opening the window and not coming back” which we know is him talking about the backrooms, but also referencing Mary&apos;s audiobook. Opening up the window is about finding your freedom. Clark thinks he found his freedom in the backrooms but that isn&apos;t true. Clark needs to change to be free but his refusal to do so is what keeps him static in his suffering or what keeps him in the backrooms. He would rather stay alone with his “husks” than confront the reality that he needs to put in the effort to change. Despite what Clark says he WANTS to change and we can see that when he parks outside Barbara&apos;s house, but he&apos;s afraid to put in the effort. He accepts the backrooms as his comfort, he accepts that he&apos;s alone with his husks and his own reflection (Pirate Clark), and in an odd way he “kills himself” when he believes the idea that “it&apos;s just how he was wired”. Clark was his own worst enemy just like how he was his own monster. Clark knew he hurt people when he got too close to them but instead of changing that he took the route of “it&apos;s just who I am”.

  spoilers:<br><br><br><br>the head in the pile of clothes was a caveman cutout. i thought it was a person until i recognized the face and saw the rest of the cutout in the pile<br><br>both in the opening scene and in the scene with bobby, you can see captain clark&apos;s hat and peg leg even when he&apos;s obscured in the shadows. i only noticed this one on a rewatch

  As someone who hasn&apos;t watched a lot of the web series my initial thought was the windchimes were meant to add to the uncanny feeling. There&apos;s no wind in the backrooms but there&apos;s the sound of windchimes...

  I think that her saying &quot;I can&apos;t help anyone&quot; (implying you have to help yourself) is her breaking her own cycle of trying to help people that don&apos;t want to be helped. Also the conversation with the scientist guy she is noticing again this pattern and instead of trying to help the guy she just leans back, refusing to waste energy on a lost cause.
