The song is about James’s father who had Chronic stage 4 kidney disease. The song was written so James could express his feelings about his father’s diagnosis and to serve as a final farewell and acceptance of his father’s mortality. On the release of the video James made a plea for a blood type O organ donor to come forward. The plea found a cousin who was a match and his father was scheduled for transplant surgery in January 2020. James revealed later that year his father was recovering very well. All the proceeds from the sale of the song was donated to charities
