  This is the original song. That is his father. He was very poorly with stage 4 kidney failure. This song reached a distant cousin in Australia who tested as a match and thankfully donated a kidney. Colonel Blunt is still with us and doing well.

  What you heard on Americas Got Talent was a cover, James wrote this song for his seriously ill father, who actually features in the vt, after receiving a kidney transplant, saving his life. This song is so personal that I find it inconceivable that anyone could cover it. By the way, James and his father were both serving officers in the British army, the line about; I’m not your son, you’re not my father, we’re just two grown men saying goodbye; was how they said goodbye to each other on being deployed to active service.

  I could be wrong because there are some untruthful things said about this song. What I believe to be true is that &nbsp;James father was dying from kidney disease and no one was a match. He wrote this song to say goodbye. In doing so a distant family member heard the song and was tested and found to be a match and had successful transport. Also his real dad in the video at a the time James thought he was saying goodbye. As sad as this song is James blunt “Girl that never was” is more sad and is also a true story of James life.

  No need to say sorry, we all go through it. I lost my mother, my father, and one of my brothers when he was only 40 years old. I am now 62 years old, and the older I get, the more people I love leave this world. It&apos;s, unfortunately, the circle of life, but it doesn&apos;t make it any easier.
