I was diagnosed as a kid with adhd and that was long before they would allow for dual diagnosis. I am now seeking the autism diagnosis after figuring out that it would explain my whole life. I do know that as a kid the adhd masked the autism a lot, I was always super hyperactive. I didn’t have the attention span to play with my toys for long enough to line them up. I can only play video games for about 5 minutes. Now finding this content has been such a great resource thank you so much.

My ADHD daughter's nutrition was not great and we put her in therapy to work on her attitudes toward food and encourage her to try new things. It helped some, although not as much nor as quickly as we would have liked. Also, for her poor sleep, we had her do a sleep study. She was diagnosed with moderate to severe sleep apnea due to massive tonsils and adenoids. Surgery removed them all and she sleeps much better now. NOTE: insurance only paid for the sleep study. All else was paid for out of pocket by us and her grandparents.

Adrenarche (A-dre-nar-kee) is not a form of precocious puberty, it's the earliest phase of (peri)pubertal activation. Everyone goes through adrenarche. There's some evidence for early stress accelerating adrenarche but the effect is very small if it's there and the data we have is quite noisy. (/academic psychologist hat on)

I'm AuDHD and I think I had ARFID when I was little. Probably mostly due to my autism, but maybe also a little bit because my mother was always on a strict diet. During that time she came together with a partner who was a very humorous person and did super well with me in general. He also was a person who really enjoyed to eat and who showed that a lot too. When he ate something it made me very curious you try that too, just because it looked so yummie when he ate it. I wanted to have that kind of joy aswell. He cured my eating disorder, I'm absolutely sure about that. I found the fun and enjoyment of food through him and that stayed with me since then.

I feel lucky to live in Australia because we have the NDIS. My son was diagnosed at 4 and he’s been getting funding for therapy’s OT,psychology since then. I know if we still lived in the Uk he wouldn’t get any of this 😔
