Is it me or the list is missing heavy cavalry. I will not deny that horse archers and light cavalry dominated on battlefields before gunpowder, but heavy cavalry had their important uses and fame too.

The Sarmations are believed to have introduced the stirrup into Europe, making the rise of the medieval knight and shock combat possible. Lynn White demostrates this in his book "Medieval Technology and Social Change." While they may not have been the greatest or most effective cavalry ever, they did have a lasting impact for centuries until the age of pike and shot.

You know these warriors in particular should have their own toy lines there's a great action figures to collect if you think about it?

No gendarmes during the 15 - 6th century? This is a worse crime than this video being made by an AI

Muy interesante, pero....¿Y los hunos? ¿No hubo en China y Japón caballería destacable?

The US Cavalry were Dragoons and not cavalry! What's the difference? You ask. Dragoons are soldiers who travel around on horseback, but fight as infantry (or at least they USED to be) and Cavalry actually fight from horseback. Therefore, they do not belong in this list. Though, if they do, where are the Australian Light Horse? Who, even though they were Dragoons, still won a battle as Cavalry.

Any list where the Hungarian Hussars from 15th century till 1941 is not listed is a crap. The Hungarian Hussars were the most copied and freared light cavalry during the centuries being the basics for several here mentioned cavalry unit. Although nearly all cavalry unit disappeared or ultimately failed after a rather short period, the extremely flexible Hungarian hussars were on the battlefields over 500 years and led even in 1941 succesfull charges agains soviet infantry. Well respected by heavy cavalries of 18th-19th western heavy cavalry, by the spahis, and even the cossacs ranked them among only one enemy they have to fear.
