  I’ve a pension with no COLA.  Things would look different when there’s no COLA.  It would be nice if you can address pensions with no COLA in a future video.

  My wife and I both had pensions, we set them up so 100% would go to a survivor. She pasted away a few years ago. It left me in a very good financial situation. Think the long term, protect your spouse.

  Thanks, I retired from the military at 42 with a pension.  Only worked 3 more years and retired for good at 46.  My goals were health and happiness.  12 years later I have no regrets!

  My pension cash out was only about 4.5 years of payout. To me it was a no brainer to keep my monthly pension, plus it’s 100% survivorship.

  In my case 9% of my paycheck was deducted to fund that pension. They also held out for social insecurity. My state doesn't tax either my pension or SS. The Feds, on the other hand, tax both. I start to draw my SS next week. At that time my income will be higher than my working income including inflation. There is no wife and my dog will just have to look cute when my nieces and nephews divide my stuff.

  A pension can give you income stability similar to when you used to earn a steady paycheck without being concerned with market volatility. You have more piece of mind that your funds will not run out during your lifetime as the pension guarantees a portion of your retirement income for the rest of your life. It offers security, unlike a 401k, which is tied to market performance.

  I get a pension through my employer. It is a basic plan where I could get a lump sum or a lifetime annuity. I optioned for the lump sum and then purchased an independent lifetime annuity with 100% for my wife and 20 year guaranteed funding. It even gave me a bit more than what my company pension would have paid out. The biggest factor was the 20 year guaranteed funding in case both me and my wife passed before the 20 years were up.
