The best line in any of the Cap movies is "If I'm the only one so be it, but I'm willing to bet I'm not" because it gets the ultimate payoff with Portals

I think Captain America is a great example that a flat arc can be just as powerful as your typical character arc.

Hot take: A villain doesn't always have to be complex. Sometimes a villain can just be cartoonishly evil, like Red Skull.

The First Avenger was the first MCU movie I ever saw. Since I didn't know about the wider universe, the twist at the end was insanely shocking.

The First Avenger is underrated imo.

The twist with Bucky killing Tony's parents is actually hinted at in Winter Soldier during Zola's monologue. Cool detail.

I love Steve's insistence to try to do the right thing always, across all 3 movies

Nobody cared about Captain America until Captain America The Winter Soldier. He was just Ok in Cap 1 and The Avengers but Winter Soldier is the movie where Cap really started to become peoples favorite character in the mcu

I'll never forget my response to the reveal of Bucky killing Tony's parents. It took me about 5 seconds after Tony said "I know that road... WHAT IS THIS??" to realize what he was talking about and I literally gasped.

And I really love how Bucky didn't even try to defend himself when the reveal happened, and he even says in response to Tony's question on whether or not he remembers them: "I remember ALL of them..." Basically owning up to his part of it all.

One more wasted opportunity with the accords conflict in Civil War is how Bucky is a perfect example of a superpowered person being merely a weapon for an institution to point. The Avengers would be no different under the accords.

Honestly it's really something how this is the MCU's best trilogy. The first movie was solid, the second was amazing, and the third equally so! They just delivered the wins!

And yeah, Cap was a great character. Someone that stuck to who he was at his core throughout. His views changed, his relationship with the government changed, but Steve was always Steve. He was a stable character. At least his character got an excellent arc before the MCU really started to stumble without him.

Winter soldier is the best non avenger movie in the MCU. It’s the one that completely changed the game and shattered the universe up to that point.

Before WS, the good guys had the edge. The avengers had assembled and were on call, SHIELD was strong with competent leadership in Fury who was on our side, agents like Romanov, Cap, and coulsons team working to help. Things were good.

And then this movie plot shatters everything and destroys the literal and proverbial shield that was protecting everyone. The twist with HYDRA is still the best in the MCU and changed everything. Now the hero’s are on their own with no government help and in some cases on the run.

Winter soldier, the best movie in the lineup
