Frankly Human uses AI to write essays for him. At no time in a show that I’ve watched 12 times over has Rust ever spoken to Marty’s daughter on the phone because she sounded sad.

Marty nails him at the scene in the revival tent: "For a guy who sees no point in existence, you sure fret about it an awful lot."

He didn't chase the killer for 17 years out of the humanitarian desire to protect lives. He did it because he held like he failed and he had a debt.

When the storage unit was revealed, I nearly cried. The title of the show came into focus and it was the simplest epiphany that he was the truest of detectives, solely focused without compromise.
A lesser show would have leaned on a big twist or conspiracy that Rust was involved, but this show perfected simplicity, held things under your nose while keeping you guessing, used the setting, and delivered with Erol Childress.
Favorite show of all time.

When you devote your life to helping people while simultaneously believing life isn’t worth living, it just means that you have experienced such a catastrophic level of unjust suffering that it his left you with the singular purpose of making sure no one innocent ever has to endure what you have. All while actually hoping you die in the process to rid yourself of your own misery.

Rust’s life was defined by events that were either caused by him losing control of himself(killing the crackhead), completely out of his control(his daughters death) or his perceived selfishness and weakness that lead to his marriage failing.

These three factors drive his obsession to catch the king in yellow(tkiy) because the events surrounding tkiy have a sense of symmetry and/or metaphorically rhyme(ie Dora Lange is the inverse of Rusts daughter, his relationship with Marty is the inverse of his marriage, and killing LaDue is the inverse of killing the crackhead).

Also, Rust knows that going to jail for a dirty shoot isn’t the only hazardous outcome that Marty could face.

    "Marty drives down to Louisiana..."
28:30
No. Marty was also a patient in the hospital. He's in a gown with an IV. It's right there in the video this "person" obviously didn't watch and certainly didn't create.
I suspect that FranklyHumanYT is just 2nd gen AI with a cat.

Great job. By far the best I’ve ever seen in my life and I’ve re-watched it probably 10 times. At least the characters are absolutely perfect and rust. Cole is the best character ever written.

when did spend an afternoon on the phone with one of Marty’s daughters? That never happened. Also, he didn’t say the line about human evolution in front of a room full of detectives, he said it in the car along with Marty.
