Commonwealth nations are always better together as they all understand the narrative

My mothers father, my grandad served with No4 Commando. Joined in 1940. Fought in Lofoten Islands, Norway, Dieppe raid, DDay landings and Walcheren landings late 1944. Lovely bloke, lovely quiet fella.

Never underestimate the British. Push them too far, and what you thought was weakness becomes resolve, and that will be your undoing.

Best way to motivate a man to fight to the death and evade capture at all costs? Demand they were slaughtered immediately regardless. I know the British mentality, we would rather die hard anyway. But when all hope of living if captured is destroyed, then there is nothing else for it. Go down in a blaze of glory!

My Grandad was a Grenadier guard who did the commando training in 41. Anytime you asked him to walk anywhere he’d say “ I did my walking in the desert.”

My grandfather used to mention commandos when he talked about the war. He called them “the guys who did the stuff nobody else wanted to try.” Watching this makes me understand what he meant

I too was a 'modern' Commando, having completed the All Arms Commando Course at CTCRM in 1975. Not too shabby for an army chef, who went on to serve with 29 Commando Light Regiment RA & 45 Commando RM.

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

I was a modern Commando in the 90s. I spent a good while at 40 Cdo. Great life. Great guys. The process to get in still distills the hopefuls from an around 60 to 20 max each intake. Commando tests are still the same time/distance requirement. The jobs changing nowadays but the commando spirit will all still be required.
